Default Just Curious for now

Hi,

I have rented servers for years for 1 game and know nothing about dedicated and how it works. So i may ask lots of dumb questions.

What does 8 ips mean? Does that mean i can run 8 game servers on it?

Can we run any game? Only game i play is OLD return to castle wolfenstein 1.0 for the past 7+ years so i would only like to run that game.

I have 3 servers currently and was thinking if i was to rent more that this may be a better option and maybe rent out a few too.

How many servers could i run on one machine without it being overloaded, for example the one below.

Intel Single Core2Duo 3060
2 x 2.4Ghz -1x4mb Cache
2GB DDRII 667mhz
250GB SATA II HDD
2000GB Transfer
$189/month

Do i have to have any programs to do this?

Got more questions but it's 4am and tired

Thanks for any help and great site i've seen so far

It didnt copy and paste the dedicated server for 189 i was looking at

2x2.4ghz 1x4mb cache
2gb ddrii 667mhz
250gb sata ii hdd
2000gb transfer
189/month

Also thinking a texas server would be best.

Hello,

The Core2Duo is a fine choice for what you want to run. You should have no problem hosting 4-5 servers from that platform with good performance.

You have 8 ips to host your games. If you wish to run one particular game you can host 8 servers and give each their own ip or you may host more but you would need to change the port to something unique.

If you have experience setting up and configuring the games the standard dedicated server would be fine. If you would like a control panel to make things easier you might check out the Total Control Series.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Basically thinking of, if possible?

Price 189 to around 250.
8 to 10 servers more if possible, so if i wanted more servers i have to pay for more ip's over 8 right?
1 game - rtcw 1.0
1 mod - s4ndmod 2.0 +
Maybe stats later for a few of the servers but not sure how to do that yet
Location texas - closer to Oklahoma the better
Windows would be best, i know nothing about linux

Thanks

If you wanted to run 8-10 servers I would recommend going with either the Quadcore 3220 or above. The Core2Duo is better suited to hosting 4-5 servers.

You can host as many games as the machine will handle, IPs wouldn't matter.

You can choose which OS and location you prefer on the order form.

The first server comes with the reseller panel. The other uses the standard panel. If you plan on reselling game server I would suggest the first option.
